Annual Marathon Since 1972 -- First Sunday in May

The Weather

What is normal on the Avenue the first week of May?

The average high temperature is between 65 and 70, while the average low temperature is only in the low to mid 40s. With an early morning start this means the temperatures are typically in the 40s and 50s for much of the race. The thick shade from the trees also helps keep runners cool.

Rain can occur and has several times in the history of the race, however, average rainfall for entire month of May is less than 2 inches.
